Funded by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and supported by Waverley Borough Council, Streets Ahead provides grant funding for Surrey’s residents who live in properties which are not suitable for cavity wall insulation.

Following contact with the Streets Ahead team, the resident was able to accept a quote they had been given previously by one of the accredited installers on Action Surrey’s contractor network. Not only are they the first resident in Waverley to have had the installation installed through streets ahead, but the grant funding was able to cover the entire cost of the work, meaning that they did not have to make a contribution at all!

Following completion of the install, the resident commented that the entire process was “very smooth from start to finish” and that the installers were “very tidy and jolly”. They were also very pleased with the insulation and are already feeling warmer in the rooms that have been insulated.

You too can also feel the benefits of solid wall insulation if you live in a non-cavity wall property. There are still just under 400 grants still available for residents in Surrey, which recently have been increased from £3,500 to £5,000 per person, meaning that residents will now be contributing less to towards the cost of their install. The Streets Ahead grant is not means or age tested, and is purely based on the construction of your home and on the basis that 50% of the walls which are suitable for solid wall insulation are insulated. The entire cost of the install (including VAT) will only be covered by the grant if it is less than £5,000.
