Grants of £5,000 are already available to Surrey Residents for solid wall insulation but 20 Woking residents can get an extra £5,000 towards their install.
This is a whopping £10,000 for Woking residents, so they are likely to get their home insulated for free through Action Surrey’s Streets Ahead project.
Solid wall insulation makes homes warmer, more comfortable and reduces energy bills.
The extra £5,000 (up to £10,000 in full) is available on a first come first served basis- after this the grant will revert to £5,000 only.
More than 190 Surrey residents have already insulated their homes through Action Surrey’s ‘Streets Ahead’ project.
The top-up funding has been made possible by Woking Borough Council’s energy and environmental services company, ThamesWey Limited.
The grant is not means tested and can be used on privately owned/rented houses, bungalows, park homes, flats/maisonettes (Up to two storeys) which are solid walled.
If you live in a building which is three or more storeys we can help, however your grant will be £3,500.
The grant is only for solid walled homes – for those who live in properties which are not suitable for cavity wall insulation.
Cllr Beryl Hunwicks, Woking Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment and Sustainability, said: “This is great news for Woking Residents. Through the Streets Ahead project, Action Surrey continues to help residents make their homes greener and more energy efficient. Solid Wall insulation helps to keep homes cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, which also means homes are cheaper to heat in the colder months.
“The increase in funding will help more residents across Woking contribute to creating a more sustainable Borough by reducing their impact on the environment. Furthermore, as fuel prices continue to rise and affordability of fuel becomes more difficult particularly during winter months, this extra funding could also benefit those who are more vulnerable within our community.”
All funding Streets Ahead holds is allocated on a first come first served basis.
