ThamesWey’s long-standing domestic energy efficiency project, Action Surrey, has been awarded £6.2m of funding to deliver home energy efficiency retrofits following a successful consortium bid to the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) ‘Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery’ scheme.

The project, named ‘Green Jump Surrey’, will fund energy efficiency improvements for up to 600 homes in Surrey. Households are urged to act quickly to claim up to £15,000 per property to winter proof their homes and slash fuel bills, as funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Surrey County Council is also contributing £750,000 towards ‘Green Jump Surrey’ to provide top-up funding, which will allow some of the higher cost measures to be fully funded up to £15,000.

ThamesWey’s Action Surrey will deliver the ‘Green Jump Surrey’ initiative on behalf of 10 Surrey local authorities and Surrey County Council. It is the largest energy efficiency project ever to be delivered by Action Surrey and follows over seven years of successful partnership with the local authorities.

Funding is available to those living in a hard-to-heat home and are either in receipt of a means-tested benefit or have a total household annual income of less than £30,000.

Residents can receive at no cost a suite of energy efficiency measures. These include: insulation for solid walls, cavity walls, lofts, park homes and under floors; draught proofing; LED lighting; and low carbon heating systems. The specific combination of measures will be determined based on the property type.

Private and social housing landlords can also receive up to £5,000 to cover two-thirds the cost of installing solid wall insulation.

Action Surrey’s Energy Advisors will help Surrey residents throughout the entire process, from checking their eligibility for the scheme and sourcing quotations for the work from trusted installersthrough to making all payments for the work and checking the promised improvements in home energy efficiency have been achieved.

Mark Rolt, ThamesWey’s Chief Executive Officer, said “Green Jump Surrey is the largest and most ambitious domestic energy efficiency project that ThamesWey has delivered in Surrey. We are delighted to have leveraged this amount of funding which will make such a difference to those most in need.”
