ThamesWey has handed over to Woking Borough Council five new affordable homes, the first new family sized ‘Council Homes’ in recent years.
The new homes have been developed by ThamesWey, working with Endeavour Construction and Wienerberger, and follow the Wienerberger e4 strategy. This means the homes are not only affordable in terms of rent but also in terms of running costs as the homes have exceptionally high levels of insulation keeping the tenants bills down.
The Weinerberger e4 brick house is designed to minimise its impact on the environment and meet level 4 of the former Code for Sustainable homes without renewables. The homes follow a fabric first approach which are estimated to reduce carbon emissions by 50%. The delivered homes are as a result energy efficient, low-carbon and more affordable in terms of energy bills.
The homes are the first of a number of small residential projects being delivered by ThamesWey on behalf of the Council’s Housing Revenue Account. The Council will rent the property to eligible tenants.
