ThamesWey Sustainable Communities has been delivering free educational workshops throughout the summer through the Low Carbon Communities project, to Woking’s youth groups, teaching them about how we use energy; how it’s made and how different types of energy generation affect the environment.
These fun and interactive sessions have been well received by children and group leaders alike. Hilary Harris, Akela for 1st Goldsworth Park Cub Pack said of a session last week:
“Thank you for your time and enthusiasm at our Cub Pack meeting last week, the Cubs enjoyed learning about Energy Awareness and found it fun looking at the thermal image camera.”
The sessions lasted about an hour and included plenty of games and activities, providing a vital learning opportunity to the children to help them understand the importance of energy in their daily lives, and what they can do to improve the way they make and use it.
