Mr Jeremy Peacock, from Woking, was concerned by his rising energy bills which were made worse by him living in a 1920s period home that wasn’t suitable for standard cavity wall insulation.
After calling Action Surrey, Surrey’s impartial energy advice service, Mr Peacock was shocked to hear that he was losing 35% of his heat through his external walls and was advised to consider external wall insulation. This is a layer of insulation fixed to the outside walls of the property and covered in specialist plaster or cladding, which could reduce his energy bills by up to £490* each year!
For years external wall insulation has been financially prohibitive with an average cost of £10,000*. But now Action Surrey can help. With advice and support Mr Peacock was able to make installing solid wall insulation a reality by reducing the cost of the installation to less than £1,500.
Following a Green Deal Assessment, Mr Peacock accessed a Government Eco grant. In addition, Action Surrey awarded him £5,000 from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, enabling Mr Peacock to improve the energy efficiency, warmth and appearance of his property.
A delighted Mr Peacock said: “Without Action Surrey’s support I would not have been able to have installed solid wall insulation. I am delighted with the results and I can already feel my house is warmer, I would encourage anyone to contact Action Surrey.”
